Piero Macgowan (Concept Artist) was born in Mexico, where he grew up and lived his childhood and youth. After a year of post-high school backpacking through Europe, getting an internship in an animation company, and developing his portfolio, he attended the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where he graduated with a degree in Illustration. His work has encompassed animation to graphic design and illustration. He has been an Illustrator since 2003, and worked as a Chief Animator for the Mexican film industry in 2004. He has also played a role in the music video industry as a Lead Concept Designer for award-winning videos officially shown in festivals across the country. His work has been exhibited in various international digital art publications like ImagineFX, It’s Art Magazine, 2DArtist Magazine as well as in globally recognized exhibitions such as the 2007 Art of Digital Show and Siggraph 2007, where he received first place in the Digital Print competition. His work was selected to be part of American Illustration 26, as well as the 3x3 Annual, in which his works received both Best in Show and Distinctive Merit. He is constantly working on several projects on the side, including a documentary, a short animated film, and a motion picture. |
